The no.1 ladies detective agency books :)!!!

I thought id take a break from the cooking and music side of this blog and tell you all about the 13 books on the no1 ladies detective agency. Which is set in Botswana Africa, and is about a well built african woman who runs a ladies detective agency in Gabarone. Mma Ramotswe’s character is fantastic! This book is full of colours and thoughts. There is not one page out of the thousands of them that i have got bored at.

There is a collection of 13 books each telling different storys about the wide array of african cultures the food the loyalty towards others.every time i read these books i feel warmed through and content!! When a new customer arrives at the agency the kettle is switched on by her secretary mma makutsi a very respectble and reliable secretary who makes the redbush tea for herself the client and mma ramotswe. Throught the books the clients and their cases get even more exciting and gripping l!!:)

I recommend these books for people who are fascinated by culture and the spirit of africa along with tge wonderful hint of detective throught. Good night all have a great weekend!!!!:)) thanks. R.

pastry part 1:)!!

okay i know you are are all thinking oh go pastry i cant cook that. Well i must say its actually incredibly easy to create and master the perfect pastry recipe as long as you follow a few simple rules that i will explain later on in this post. So the easiest type of pastry you can make at home first is short crust. my recipe for short crust pastry contains quite a large amount of the old BUTTER! it gives the pastry its crumbly texture and satisfies the taste buds very well. my recipe is pretty simple i have given you the opportunity to change between savour and sweet short crust just by tweeking a few ingredients here and there. So here goes!! :

sweet short crust pastry:

250g plain flour

125g cold butter cubed

2 egg yolks

large pinch of salt

2 tbsp caster sugar

1-4 tbsp milk (if required)

Savoury short crust pastry:

same as above except from the addition of milk which in the case of savoury becomes water and that you omit the sugar .

Method!

Put the flour and butter in a food processor (although this can be done by hand if preferred) and blitz to breadcrumbs. Add the egg yolks (if making sweet pastry add sugar now) and the large pinch of salt and stir together with a knife. Squidge the mixture together in a tight ball and. if the pastry doesn’t want to do this now is the time to add the milk or water.(but please try to achieve the tight ball without the addition of the water or milk to give a tender pastry.

Now pop it in the fridge for 30mins to rest.

After the resting time has finished remove from the fridge warm it a little with your hands and roll out on a lightly floured board and use accordingly to your recipe.

tomorrow i will post the recipe for puff pastry which requires a bit more skill. No need to panic i will write it step by step and post pictures to help out 😀 !! Thanks! R.

24 caprices for violin paganini!!:)

I once was sitting in an violin exam and still didnt have my improvisation piece sorted out so i began to think of pieces i could play to fill up that category. Then in the faint distance i heard 2 candidates speaking about paganini caprices and reading over the music so i interupted there conversation and asked if i could borrow there music (by the way i had never played these before in my life). So i borrowed there copy of them chose a few i liked and of i went into this musical journey discovering new techniques and finger patterns which was the most buzzing!! Feeling i had all day and took most of my nerves away.

Anyway onto the story of these caprices paganini wrote these as a way to escape from the torment he was going through at the time with his family leaving him and friends slowy dying away he turned to his violin and began to compose the outstanding 24 caprices i still have 8 to study and cant wait to start another challenging but extremely fun challenge with them.

My favourite out of the 24 have got to be :
24 13 14 1 23 2 6 8 10

These really show off paganini’s rich array of styles and the images they produce and i urge you if you listen to classical to seriously consider getting a good quality recording of them. As i metioned earlier about him composing throught a time of torment the vast majority contain different themes throught therefore making it my more exciting for the listener but also more for the preformer creating images in his head that he/she is trying to convey. Thanks :))!! . R
